Practical Strategies on Decolonizing and Indigenizing Curriculum and Pedagogy
The aim of this workshop is to introduce faculty to the process of examining and unpacking their own course outlines and explore approaches on ways to decolonize and Indigenize their curriculum and pedagogical practices. This workshop will provide concrete examples of course outlines that have gone through the process of decolonizing (unpacking) and re-aligning their course syllabi in ways that respectfully integrate Indigenous theories and pedagogical practices across academic disciplines. Examples of building and promoting a supportive shared learning community for faculty will also be explored.

Territorial Land Acknowledgements: Practical Strategies for Curriculum and Pedagogical Practices
This workshop critically examines territorial land acknowledgments and their linkages to current critical discourse around land, community, and Western-based academic institutions and relationships to Indigenous peoples. Questions to be explored include: What are territorial land acknowledgments? Why are they important? How can faculty respectfully integrate Concordia University’s territorial land acknowledgment in course design and pedagogical practices? At the end of this workshop, participants will:
· Critically examine what Territorial land acknowledgments mean in relation to Indigenous lands and territories university systems are built on.
· Engage in critical discourse and self-reflection on: How do Territorial land acknowledgments implicate you within the frameworks of your relationships to Indigenous peoples, the lands you live, study and/or work on.
· Examine practical curricular and pedagogical strategies on ways to weave in Concordia’s Territorial Land acknowledgment in course design.
